victory brewing bermuda team

funny how this is the only team picture i got the whole bermuda trip. that`s chrissy, kate, rachel, kat, and me. i think mike was off on a run at that moment, or i would have made sure to have him in the picture, too! the beach we were at that day was horseshoe bay, which was the main hangout for alot of the bike racers (besides the pickled onion!). we pretty much ran into someone every day we went to that beach. anyway, get a load of the waves behind us. this picture was taken a day after the hurricane came.... before the hurricane came to the island, that water was incredibly calm without much of a wave at all. nice that we got one last sunny day on the beach before we flew out, which by the way was only a few hours after that shot was taken. i can still feel the sand between my toes. i bet your not surprised to hear me say that bermuda is one of the best places ever for a bike race. how can you go wrong?!
more pics and stories to come :)

A little story about Bermuda...

...let`s start with news about the race. my teammate Katharine won this year`s young woman award for the "Prestige Cycling Series". after the time trial, we had the awards ceremony (well...it was the end of the race, too --since the race was cancelled because of hurricane florence. we only did two stages --!). the lighthouse in the background is the highest point on bermuda. the time trial was only a couple minutes long. and they had a party waiting for us at the top. what if all time trials were like that?!
anyway, go kat go. congrats!
btw-- victory brewing was on the podium both stages in bermuda. kat placed third in the time trial (amber rais won and karen brems took second), and rachel took third at the thursday night crit (she got away beautifully, and stuck it out til the finish. she was joined up by laura van gilder and stacey marple, who took first and second respectively). this year`s bermuda will go down as the shortest stage race ever, only 32 minutes racing total! -- an interesting way to end out the season.

Todd Lyons --brenda`s little brother

Interbike Vegas Interbike Vegas.
heading to the bike show next week. i`m stoked that i get to see my brother there. if you`re going and you see him --make sure you say hi. he`s a cool guy. naturally, i`m proud to be his sister. not only is he one amazing guy on a bike, but he`s super creative in the bike industry. he does design and marketing for SE Bikes (owned by Fuji). the bikes that he has been designing and working on are super sweet and style-y for the urban rider. cool fixed gear, single-speed road bikes. go on....take a looksy when you`re there.
keepin it in the family ya`ll...

so the big thing about living in "the wine country" is the wine of course. it`s that time of year and harvest is coming. can you tell? look at those pinot noir grapes. aren`t they beautiful? pinot is one of my favorites. i have so many favorites when it comes to good wine.....

Home for now...

.....today was my first ride at home since i got back and one of my longest rides since toona! it was nice to get out and not have an agenda, but my legs were beat from a nice little jog that i had yesterday. what is it with that cross training stuff. it can make you feel like you never worked out in your life! crazy....
anyway, home is good.

Tis the end of...

...another amazing race season. this time we ended the season with a hurricane in bermuda. glad that i stayed through it, as there was way too much fun still to be had before leaving the island --and now i can say i weathered a hurricane (!). not sure i want to do that again, though...
so, if you are reading this, you know that i have a new site. just felt like it was time for a change. it`s a new season and new things are happening. not sure why, but when i look back -my life has changed dramatically in the month of september for years now.

anyway, i digress.

as i said..the racing season has ended and i thought i would be an avid blogger this year posting lots of news about victory brewing --but that didn`t happen!! i did have an awesome year though. the team was great and there are many stories to tell, just maybe not on this blog. i will post pics from the season here and there. and maybe i`ll get my act together and post a bit more regularly from now on.

off to bounce around.
